Trains run every day in the School holidays, Public holidays and every Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We run five days (Thursday- Monday) in Spring/Autumn and seven days over Summer from the 5th December to 31 March 2025. Including every cruise ship day.

The Great Ride cycle train connection can also be booked online, this is available every day the train is running, and we carry bikes on both the Steam and Vintage Engines.

How to book
Step 1 – Select your dates

Step 2 – Book product
Click ‘Book Now’ on the product and preferred date.
Step 3 – Choose your departure station & time
Select Departure Station – Kawakawa, Taumarere or Whangae. Select your preferred departure time.
